There is sunshine in my soul today.

It had been a while – Months, even. It had just been far too long. She continually felt down and anxious, and nothing seemed to be able to shake that feeling. Sure, there were times where she was able to forget about it for a few fleeting moments, but the feeling always returned. It was like a loyal puppy, only not happy or welcoming. Throughout that whole time, she felt incomplete; like something was missing.

And really, something was missing. It wasn’t physical in the sense that she could touch it, or even really look at it, but it definitely was physical. This was something that she could feel, not only in her bones, but in her entire soul. It was necessary for her well-being.
She was tired of feeling cold all the time. She was tired of feeling drained of her energy and emotions, and a lot of her personality. She tried to keep up a smile and put on a face, but that was always easier said than done.

And then one day, it came back. How glorious was this day! Any negative feelings seemed to vanish entirely. She felt rejuvenated. She felt alive. Once again, she was ready to take on the world with full force.

She woke up in the morning and it was 60 degrees outside. The sun was shining, and there was no breeze to get in the way of her happiness. She happily rushed on over to work – The sooner she arrived, the sooner the time would come so she could fully engulf herself in what once was lost. Time was moving slowly, but surely. Minute by minute and second by second she watched the time go by. She did things to try to keep herself busy, but her mind constantly wandered back to the countdown of what she wanted more than anything. Finally, it came. She jumped up from her chair, flew down the stairs, and swung the doors wide open. Instantly she felt better. She closed her eyes and felt the sun beating down on her face. As she walked further outside, she let the light completely take over. Her spirits were lifted. She was complete again. All she needed was the sun’s warm embrace. And now she wouldn’t have to worry about it leaving again for a long time.
