A spoonful of sugar...

...helps the medicine go down!

Don't you just love those commercials about medicines, such as anti-depressants (or whatever your drug of choice is, and I'm not saying mine is anti-depressants, it was just the first thing that came to mind), that have cheesy, "calming", and "happy" music in the background? They start out telling you how much it could change your life; how much better your life would be if you took it. So, you go through the first half of the commercial feeling pretty optimistic and thinking this medicine might actually have some credibility after all. Then, it has to burst your bubble and tell you all of the possible and, for some people, highly likely side-effects. "Oh, by the way, even though this medicine might help you out, there is a good chance that it can kill you, or leave you worse than you already were, but you should definitely try it out to be sure." Really? I'm way too apprehensive and skeptical to take any of those kinds of medicines because I don't want to grow a second nose on my back (okay, so I don't believe that has ever been mentioned as a side-effect, but you never know).

I figured I would try out the ideas on this commercial and apply them to most normal people who aren't entirely familiar with the medicinal world. Let's see what this commercial would look like if I was your drug:

If you are in need of a friend, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with, or someone to just have a good conversation with, then we suggest you start partaking of Melissa. Recent studies of participants who have used Melissa have shown overall improvement in quality of life, happiness, and loneliness. Users have been known to feel better after taking Melissa after going through traumatic experiences. Please talk to your doctor or physician for further details on the benefits of Melissa to see if it's right for you.
Side-effects of taking Melissa may also cause a feeling of being irritated, overwhelmed, and even bored. Some participants have reported feeling anxious or upset during certain uses of Melissa, and some haven't seen a change at all. Some side-effects include nausea, heartburn, and slight indigestion. Please consult your doctor to see if Melissa is right for you.

Okay, so I don't cause nausea, heartburn, or indigestion, but you hear that on basically every commercial of this type.

The end!
